Context for Learning

Our current ‘Context for Learning’ is Mountain high, River low

Our English study is based on 'Queen of the Falls' by Chris Van Allsburg. This also links well with our reading unit 'Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls:100 Tales of Extraordinary Women' by Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo.

Our History focus is on the Ancient Maya, learning about where and when they existed and how their culture was different from others studied. We will look into how they worshipped, lived and ate as well as how they entertained themselves. Did they have a democracy? Who was in charge?

For Geography, we will be studying the Alps and what it would be like to live there!

Supporting at Home

Parents are the biggest influence on a child, so it is hugely important that we work together to support each other.

Supporting your child with their reading and homework has a huge impact and is hugely appreciated.

We encourage parents to take the time to talk to their child about what they have done in school and show an interest. Also to become involved in school life by checking the school website, following Twitter and reading the school newsletters.

Parents can also make a huge contribution to the school by supporting the PTA and attending events such as the Christmas fair.

Remember we are there to support each other so we encourage you to contact the school and speak to the class teacher if you are worried about anything.

Useful Documents

The documents below will be updated to provide you with current information about the learning taking place in class. There may also be additional resources to support you and your child.

You will also be able to access the Meet the Teacher PowerPoint from September.

Don't forget the maths strategy videos we have placed on the top of this page.
