Grammar and punctuation examples
In our writing lessons, we focus on the 'mastery keys' which are the elements of grammar and punctuation we need to develop our texts.
Here are some of our keys studied so far:
Expanded noun phrases = precise choice of words to describe a noun eg. The gnarled fingers that gripped tightly around the golden pen.
Personification = giving life to an inanimate object eg. The branches leaned forward reaching for her hair.
Fronted adverbials = these opening phrases tell us more about when, where, how or how often an action happens eg. At the stroke of midnight, Under the moonlit sky, With great ease, Each night at 8pm,
