Context for Learning
Our current ‘Context for Learning’ is Exploring an Ancient Society - Ancient Greece. This unit has a focus on the how the ancient Greek civilisation has influenced present day life.
We will look at how ancient Greece developed over time, how they ruled, what daily life was like, their beliefs, important people and their Olympic games. Throughout our history unit, we will learn how these apects of ancient Greek civilisation still have an impact on our lives today.
In Geography, we will be answering the key question: What are rivers and how are they formed? We will be learning about the water cycle, describe features of rivers, be able to name some major rivers in the world and our country, find rivers on maps. We will also be completing some Geography fieldwork about water courses in our local area and how these could be improved.

Supporting at Home
Parents are the biggest influence on a child so it is hugely important that we work together to support each other.
Supporting your child with their reading, learning times tables and spelling has a huge impact. This is hugely appreciated.
We encourage parents to take the time to talk to their child about what they have done in school and show an interest. Also, to become involved in school life by checking the school website, following Twitter, reading the school newsletters and checking for any announcements or messages on Seesaw.
Parents can make a huge contribution to the school by supporting the PTA and attending events such as the Christmas fair.
Remember we are here to support each other so we encourage you to contact the school and speak to the class teacher if you are worried about anything.
At the end of Summer Term 2, Y4 children will be taking part in the MTC - multiplication tables check, further details about this can be found on the attachment below.
Useful Documents
The documents below will be updated to provide you with current information about the learning taking place in class. There may also be additional resources to support you and your child.
