What is Pupil Premium?

The pupil premium is an allocation of additional money provided to publicly funded schools in England to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement.

The grant is provided to raise the attainment of these eligible children and close the gap between them and their peers.

Christleton Primary School places a great deal of focus on supporting children who qualify for the pupil premium grant. We want to ensure that these children have the opportunity to benefit from all that our school has to offer, resulting in them achieving the greatest possible outcome for their future.

Who is eligible for pupil premium?

  • Pupils eligible for free school meals(FSM)
  • Pupils who are looked after by the local authority
  • Pupils of armed service personnel

  Parents/carers can claim for free school meals (FSM) if they are in receipt of a qualifying benefit:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (Part VI of the immigration and Asylum Act 1999)
  • The Guarantee element of the State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit - as long as not claiming Working Tax Credit and annual income does not exceed £16,190

Engagement with parents

We try to be transparent with our policies and thinking. With this in mind we endeavour to consult parents regarding how pupil premium money planned to be spent and has been spent for their child.
